Reseller

DoubleRadius helps our Reseller customers succeed by offering a combination of unique resources. These previously included our Reseller Program and Consultation Services, but now also include our Reseller Guide, shown below. By reading our Reseller Guide, you’ll learn about potentially missed opportunities, see examples of various types of reseller businesses, plus understand how to tap into all that DoubleRadius has to offer.

What exactly is a “Reseller?” Our experience shows this to include those selling products through distribution, retail, and ecommerce. However, it also includes Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and Systems Integrators (SIs), offering both products and services to their end customers. As such, our Reseller Guide has been written to address these various aspects of the Reseller business.

Chapter 1 - Wireless Networking Opportunities

New Ideas for Integration and Managed Services
This chapter and the next list a variety of services that MSPs and SIs can incorporate into their business model. We begin here with wireless networking, and continue in the next chapter with other related technologies. For companies with technicians already in the field, these services could be natural extensions of current offerings. These new services can be an effective way to increase revenue with existing customers, and also to expand a customer base.

Enterprise / Campus WiFi
Managed campus-wide WiFi can be an excellent way to build a recurring revenue model. A comprehensive plan includes network design, deployment, monitoring, management, support, and upgrading.

DoubleRadius is the distribution partner for Inviacom, a highly successful MSP that serves retirement communities nationwide. Until its recent acquisition in May of 2020, Inviacom was our sister company for nine years. As a fully managed tech provider, they offer managed wireless internet networks, VoIP and TV solutions, IoT, and technology training for more than 100 senior communities. Inviacom also serves the education and hospitality markets, providing high-speed campus WiFi solutions for student housing and recreation facilities.

Our symbiotic relationship and knowledge-sharing with Inviacom over the years has enabled us to support and advise our customers that aspire to provide managed service or successfully scale their existing MSP business. DoubleRadius can help your company with network design, product selection, and service offerings as you look for ways to grow and increase profitability.

WiFi Hotspots
Connectivity can be the determining factor for where consumers bring their business. Whether in an office park, hotel, coffee shop or elsewhere, staying connected in real time is often a requirement. Bottom line - establishments that offer WiFi access tend to have happier customers that spend more money. Additional scenarios where our SI customers have deployed WiFi hotspots include RV parks, marinas, truck stops and others.

DoubleRadius can help your company deploy WiFi hotspots into any environment. Whether managed by your team or the client, our Managed WiFi Checklist explains important factors to consider:

  • Design aesthetics
  • Specs - frequency, speed, etc.
  • Footprint
  • Scalability
  • Ease of deployment and management

We’ll also keep you informed on the latest tech developments. For example, our article on the Emergence of WiFi 6 as Our World Demands Greater Connection reflects how the WiFi technology continues to evolve. Additionally, we’ll keep you informed of the latest WiFi product developments and release dates as exciting new options become available.

Point-to-Point Wireless Backhaul
Point-to-Point (PTP) backhaul links deliver high capacity wireless connectivity over long distances, despite challenging terrain. PTP backhaul is the cost effective alternative to digging fiber, with practical applications including:

  • Building-to-building connectivity
  • Video surveillance backhaul
  • T1 replacement or redundancy
  • Micro-pop / hotspot backhaul

Wireless Backhaul Advantages Over Fiber
Digging fiber is no longer the only option for reaching gigabit link speed. In addition to fiber-like speeds and lower cost of deployment, wireless PTP advantages over fiber include:

  • Versatility - Easily crosses highways, railroads, or bodies of water.
  • Simplicity - Avoids challenging right of way issues, and can be deploy easily in urban environments and brownfield buildings.
  • Environmental friendliness - No digging or destruction of the environment.
  • Shorter time to service and ROI - Customers get connected quicker, and earning starts almost immediately.
  • Reduction in accidental damage - No more truck rolls associated with fiber optic damage from utilities and other companies digging in the coverage area.
  • More easily protected - Only ends need to be physically secured.

A Word about E-Band mmWave Point-to-Point
E-Band is approximately 13 GHz of “lightly licensed” millimeter wave spectrum in 70, 80 and 90 GHz. Our E-Band Opportunities webinar explains its inherent advantages over microwave, primarily regarding capacity. E-band link capacity for 1+0 radio configurations can deliver up to 10 Gbps, and links run in pairs can reach up to 20 Gbps. E-Band is a powerful option to have, especially when opportunities arise with premium customers.

The DoubleRadius team is here to support your wireless PTP link deployments. In addition to helping with equipment selection, we can provide link engineering, perform path calculations, and even arrange funding as needed.

Having looked at wireless networking opportunities, our next chapter covers additional opportunities with other technologies.

Chapter 2 - Opportunities with Other Tech

Expansion of Offerings and Business Growth
Building on new services ideas from the previous chapter, this chapter elaborates on additional possibilities. The goal, again, is to grow your business by offering new services to existing customers and by casting a wider net to expand your customer base.

Video Surveillance
Video Surveillance is an evolving technology. Today’s cameras work over traditional wired networks, but also over wireless IP networks. Versatile IP cameras with pan/tilt/zoom technology can be monitored and operated remotely via the internet from any location. Additional features such as megapixel resolution, thermal (night) vision, and weatherproof and vandal resistant enclosures are available options.

Video network installation is a natural extension for MSPs and SIs already offering WiFi or other wireless LAN/WAN solutions. DoubleRadius can recommend cameras ideally suited for customer deployments, as well as guidance for management and maintenance.

VoIP Systems
As land-line telephone services become nearly obsolete, the cost-effectiveness and the quality of VoIP phone systems is becoming apparent. VoIP systems include secure, feature-rich desk phones as well as wireless portables.

DoubleRadius has utilized a VoIP system at our headquarters for over a decade. We can help your company design VoIP solutions for your clients that are looking to modernize their telecommunications. Clients adopting a VoIP phone system can reduce their monthly costs both at the office and in the field.

Indoor Cellular Coverage Boosting
More than 70% of cellular calls are made indoors, where cell signal can dramatically decrease or diminish altogether. Despite the need for constant, reliable cellular service, improving indoor cellular is an opportunity often missed.

Our How to Optimize In-Building and Mobile Cellular Coverage with Cel-Fi article explains how the technology can be deployed to solve this issue for customers. This innovative solution:

  • Delivers high gain coverage (1000x stronger, 100dB)
  • Does not cause interference with other wireless
  • Installs easily
  • Allows for remote device management

Power Solutions
No system can function without power. Providing turnkey, outdoor, uninterruptible power systems for tricky remote locations presents yet another opportunity that solves customer’s problems. DoubleRadius partners with Tycon Systems to offer a variety of power options including:

  • Solar
  • Mobile solar (see below)
  • Wind turbine

The mobile solar solutions referenced above can be used on construction sites, at concerts and festivals, for emergency power, agriculture and other applications requiring temporary security and lighting.

Whether for cellular coverage boosting or power solutions, DoubleRadius can facilitate training for your team, and can recommend equipment that is ideally suited for your client’s requirements. Now that we’ve looked at a wide variety of opportunities in our first section, our second section explains the DoubleRadius resources that are available to support your work.

Chapter 3 - Reseller Program

DoubleRadius Is Your Partner for Growth

When did your company start working with DoubleRadius, and how did we help your business?
“I came aboard just about a year ago, but our company has been purchasing equipment from DoubleRadius since 2012.”

"In sourcing our networking equipment through DoubleRadius, our representative has been tremendously helpful with keeping me informed on new products. He understands our network needs and proactively explains the benefits of new equipment. He doesn’t just push the latest and greatest, and I really appreciate that. He points out why new features of new products will or won’t be necessary or helpful to us."

"DoubleRadius has also provided technical assistance when we’ve needed it. One specific example was helping to troubleshoot a vendor bug when we had a tricky fail-over issue on a firewall. Another example was providing guidance on connecting two buildings about 500 ft. apart over a wireless link."

What products and/or services does your company provide today?
"We’ve expanded our offerings over the years to a whole host of services including:"

  • IT Consulting
  • Network Monitoring
  • Managed IT Services
  • Network Cabling / Infrastructure
  • Business Phone Systems VoIP
  • Satellite TV
  • Data Center Design and Management
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery

How has business changed for you and your customers in this current pandemic?
“We’ve been crazy-busy helping meet the network needs of at-home workers and e-learners. We’ve also seen an increased demand for improved infrastructure. It seems that our customers are deciding it’s finally time to make those overdue network upgrades.”

Do you have plans to add additional offerings?
"We’re considering taking our managed networking services to the next level. Currently, we are more reactive than proactive, fixing things when they break. Our new remote network monitoring and management would be a monthly paid service that would include networking monitoring, firmware upgrades, and other proactive measures. This would enable our customers to stay ahead of their network issues."

Chapter 8 - Reseller Use Case 3: MSP & Systems Integrator

Q & A with Marty, General Manager

How was your company started, and what were the initial offerings?
“In the 80’s, our parent company began as a communications and public utility contracting firm in North Carolina. In the last decade, we’ve branched out with two separate companies - one focused on the integration (wireless, cabling, and security), and the other focused on an MSP model.”

What types of customers do you have?
“Our extensive list of clients spans clinical healthcare, commercial, industrial and educational markets, with sizes varying from a small office to a multi-level complex. We’ve also completed college campus fiber projects including new data center build outs, dorms and classrooms.”

What is your role, and what does it entail?
“My role in the company over the last 14 years has involved wearing a variety of hats: organization, management, and in more recent years purchasing for both of our newer integration and MSP sides of the house. I’ll even get out in the field still when needed, occasionally pulling wires and terminating jacks when needed.”

When did your company start working with DoubleRadius, and how did we help your business?
“Our integration company started in 2013, and our MSP started more recently, in 2018. As a purchaser for both businesses, this can make billing tricky. We connected with DoubleRadius a couple of years ago, and since then we’ve purchased a variety of equipment including wireless radios, WiFi access points, routers, switches, servers, etc. Invoicing took some getting used to, but our DoubleRadius representative has got this dialed in and he always gets invoices right.”

"Other ways DoubleRadius has helped us includes RMAs and troubleshooting. I remember a specific instance where we simply had a bad unit, and our representative helped us by quickly processing the RMA and providing our credit. DoubleRadius also gave us assistance with fixing a technical issue we were having on another occasion. These kinds of things are greatly appreciated."

What products and/or services does your company provide today?
"We specialize in the design, sale, and installation of all technology related services. This includes the certification and maintenance of all Cat5e/Cat6 copper, fiber optic and wireless networks. We provide complete technology concierge service for virtually any SMB. Our team of technicians proactively offers IT solutions and deploys network infrastructure to cover all our client’s technology needs."

"Our long list of services include:"

  • Managed IT Solutions
  • Backup & Disaster Recovery
  • Cyber Security
  • Help Desk Services
  • Cloud Solutions
  • VoIP Phone Systems
  • WiFi Networks
  • Wireless Building-to-Building Connectivity
  • Access Control
  • Video Surveillance Cameras
  • Network Cabling

How has business changed for you and your customers in this current pandemic?
“We’ve taken this opportunity to sure-up existing customers, updating what we call their technical business review (TBR). This involves reviewing network performance and also seeking feedback on how we can improve. We’ll factor this into our own review of internal policies, and in our preparation for our Fall offerings.”

"We’ve also adjusted our marketing and communications according to the times. We’ve published articles on working safely from home and avoiding Corona virus scams, for example. We’ve also provided a remote work policy template and offered a free Emergency Work From Home Consultation. This has led to acquiring new customers in need of better home networking, and equipping them with hard-to-find laptops"

Do you have plans to add additional offerings?
"We’re looking at a new enterprise level anti-virus solution with advanced AI. This would be in addition to the other changes currently under discussion for the Fall."
